Vice President/Ex-Director - Legal Execution: Fixed Income – Front Office


Our client is one of the world’s leading global investment banks.


A new opportunity has arisen for a lawyer to join the business arm within their Fixed Income Division. This is a front office position and remunerated on the IB levels. The team you will join is focused on investment opportunities across global markets – with a specific focus on Europe and the Americas. Their investment mandates extends across asset classes and includes products such as HY/Mezzanine debt, equity, convertibles and variations therein. Impaired asset’s is an area of specific focus – illiquid investments with a maturity of btw 3-5 yrs.


Legal Execution is a central role to the business and has specific focus on deal execution, investment infrastructure and structuring.  The broad areas of responsibility include the following:


(i)  Deal execution: Working alongside deal teams providing structuring, legal and regulatory input and documentation review.  Ensure close coordination with the legal department and external counsel throughout the execution process.  Liaise with the Investment Committee both for new investments and exits where needed.


(ii) Transaction management:  Ensuring close coordination with support functions and adherence to the investment process liaising closely with deal teams


(iii) Risk management:  Manage and oversee key risks associated with principal transactions e.g. Reputation, regulatory, settlement, compliance and other non-standard risks


(iv) Investment architecture: Ownership of and development of investment infrastructure to provide maximum investment flexibility in relation to jurisdictional licensing and regulations


This role will require the individual to work closely with each deal team as transactions enter the due diligence and execution phases.  The candidate should be pro-active and self-driven to ensure that an adequate level of engagement is achieved with both deal teams and support functions.  In so doing, the candidate should be comfortable interfacing with and managing multiple disciplines and have a broad understanding of business risks.  The individual will also require strong project management, communication and interpersonal skills. 


The candidate should have experience in a finance law practice or in-house experience at an investment bank with some experience in restructuring and insolvency. Candidate should be senior VP level or Executive Director (ideally 6yrs pqe+) and will report to the Head of Execution.
